Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty (Golden Look-Look Book)

A wonderful movie with gorgeous animation!
Sleeping Beauty was, of course a good movie for those Disney fans who love the great artist's works. The three good fairies, Flora, Fauna and Merryweather offered a single gift to the newborn princess. But the evil Maleficent crashed the party and cursed Aurora by pricking her finger to the venomous spindle of a spinning wheel and die at her 16th birthday. As a Disney fan, I'm considering that this beautiful young princess will be saved at last by the third of the fairy trio, Merryweather, who had given to her this almost tiny gift: When Aurora pricks her finger into evil witch Maleficent's spinning wheel, she cannot die. Instead of death, the princess will sleeping into a deep slumber until a charming prince wake her with the true love's kiss. So Maleficent turns herself into an evil black fire-breathing dragon to stop Prince Phillip to rescue sleeping Aurora. But the good fairies combine their magic to the mighty Sword of Truth, chanting "Now, Sword of Truth, fly swift and sure. That evil die and good endure!", and the prince throw his magic sword straight as an arrow into the dragon's heart. I'm sure that's a nice movie and I strongly recommend it to all the children beginning from 5 to 12 years old.

Very Good. Honestly and smartly written.
Fascinating account of a Harvard student who goes to the South and finds himself in a very different culture. Honest and introspective insights in which the author contrast his expectations with his realizations of Georgia in 1970.

Fun little guide
This was one of the original Golden Guides done back in the 50's, along with The Stars, Rocks and Minerals, Birds, North American Trees, and some others. I collected and read just about all of these and it's surprising how much info they got into these little books. Each book is exactly 160 pages, if I remember right. Thus, they have a fixed format, so they have to be very careful about what they select for material since it all has to fit.

These books sold for 75 cents or 95 cents originally. They were great little educational tools when I was a schoolboy, and I could still read them with profit many years later.

The more specialized ones, such as Pond Life, Structural Geology, The Heart, Insect Pests, Spiders and Their Kin, Mushrooms and Non-Vascular plants, were also very good.

Golden Guide to WEATHER, a choice book.
It is small. It is well illustrated. It is simple. It is comprehensive. It is correct, almost no errors and no "over simplifications." If you are a CEO, a student, or a child over 10 and interested in understanding weather, this well organized and concise book is a good place to start.

This childrens book is delightful , for the K-2 age group. It teaches children not to judge others for what they look like, but for who they are.

Western Mandalas of Transformation: Astrological & Qabalistic Talismans & Tattwas (Llewellyn's Golden Dawn Series)
Published in Paperback by Llewellyn Publications (March, 1996)
Author: A. L. Soror

Highly informative
This is a lucid and concise treatment of Western methods of consciousness transformation through number symbolism. Also known as "magic squares" these numbers, in the form of mathematical tables and geometric figures, are used to evoke various aspects of Universal Mind. The material is presented within a Kabbalistic framework by someone who seems to be a genuine practitioner. I was very impressed by the honesty and depth of her style, especially since the mathematical aspects of the material might seem a little dry at first. Anyone interested in learning more about the Western Magickal tradition would be well rewarded in reading this work.

Wet Cats

Wonderful, easy to read kids' book, similar to Pied Piper
This book deserves to come back into print. It is simple but a lot of fun for kids ages 4-8. I loved books of all sorts when I was 9 and I ordered a pile of books in the school's Scholastic book orders and this was one of them. Even my sister, who was in kindergarten at the time, could enjoy this book on her own. The mice play tricks on the cats and so the cats retaliate--that part was a surprise and a delight to me! When I teach class I will share this book with my students! It is wonderful! If you like the classic Pied Piper, you'll love this one!
